How It Works

Undercover Systems designed and created the underdeck system. It is a roof system that is installed on the underside of decks. The roof and ceiling system are individual ceiling panels that are fabricated according to the custom specs of each homeowner’s deck. The ceiling panels and specially designed integrated gutters collect all water from the underdeck system, then channel if to the gutter system throughout the underdeck. It is then exited from downspouts.

Design

The “flat panel” ceiling design is patented and smooth. Each one is structurally engineered between each gutter system, so all water and debris is exited out through the downspouts. The components are each custom manufactured at the Undercover System’s manufacturing facility to go through a deck configuration. This is done because each homeowner’s deck is different and each ‘flat panel’ is made to fit precisely for that deck.

Ceiling Installation Process

The ceiling installation process starts with a structurally engineered load bearing gutter system, which is precisely attached using number eight galvanized screws, then a 3/16 “Tacon” fasteners to the inside perimeter of the underdeck that is being covered. The gutter system is attached along the front of the deck, the sides, and along the house, which form a clean-looking and attractive streamlined gutter system. We don’t attach our system to the floor joists of the deck, but to the sides and front of the deck just under the rim joist. This allows us to attach the gutter system below the floor joists of the existing deck’s floor. This will also allow for ventilation and air flow that facilitates efficient drying. Some homeowner’s need to have a gutter bracket supports installed, and when this is done it will be 24” in the center and only when it is required.

At no time will the system be attached to the underside of the deck. The entire installation will be done below the existing deck and the deck boards. We add a 4-7 inch space between the bottom of the deck to the top of the ceiling, so the product and service will never cause any harm to the deck.

The top edge of the gutter system is completely sealed, and this is done so no water can get behind the panels once the ceiling installation process is started. Our professional installers start at one end by placing the interlocking pre-cut panels on the top of the gutter system until the ceiling panels are installed. When the ceiling panels are completely installed, the professional installers clean up entirely, then homeowners can begin enjoying the beautiful outdoor living space that has been made especially for them.
